Out of the port and into the neighborhood.
That’s what Louisville developer Rick Kueber is planning as he sets out to build eight or nine new rental homes in the Germantown, Kent. area made from shipping containers, reports Louisville Business First editor Carolyn Tribble Greer.
The homes would be built by putting two 8-by-20-foot shipping containers side by side, then adding another floor. In all, they would each be 640 square feet.
Kueber told WLKY-TV that he doesn't consider the homes to be in the tiny home category, though he said they're part of the minimalist movement.
The homes would have rooftop decks, and plans call for them to rent for $800 to $1,200. Kueber is working with architect Mark Foxworth, and the project requires a zoning change.
