Following its acquisition of Charlotte-based United Materials, the Delta Gypsum building supply company in Wake Forest, N.C. plans to expand into Charlotte for the first time, reports Triangle Business Journal staffer Amanda Hoyle.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but each of the 19 employees at United Materials' warehouse in Charlotte will be retained and its owners Rich DeRhodes and Eric Caldwell will remain as co-managers of the Charlotte office operations and sales.

United Materials, like Delta Gypsum, specializes in the sale and delivery of drywall products and materials for the commercial and residential building industries, and employs 19 people at its warehouse in Charlotte. Along with Delta Gypsum’s six other warehouse and distribution locations in North Carolina and Tennessee, the combined company will employ about 120 people.

In the past 18 months, Delta Gypsum has also added two new locations in Fuquay-Varina and Winston-Salem in an effort to provide faster services for clients across the state. Its other locations are in Wake Forest, Durham, Burlington and Jonesborough, Tennessee.
