While IoT (internet of things) is most known as a way to automate your home, TechCrunch contributor Chris Ciabarra believes that IoT has untapped potential it comes to home security. It is in this area that he believes IoT can create that killer app that will give it mainstream credibility.

Ciabarra points out that a home security system built upon IoT devices could be purchased for the relatively affordable price of $199.99 and won't require any wiring thanks to their reliance on Wi-Fi:
