The Orange County (Calif.) Register staffer Jeff Collins offers an in-depth look at Landsea Holdings Co., the  subsidiary of a top Chinese homebuilding company, that's making waves in the U.S.

The firm moved its U.S. headquarters to Irvine, Calif., last January and recently acquired its first housing project in Orange County.

The company has 1,211 homes in the pipeline, not counting three Simi Valley projects on 16.3 acres still in the planning stage.
