Many builders in the Charleston, S.C. area are preparing for the end of the year by offering buyer incentives for their existing ready-built or inventory homes, Jim Parker of The Post and Courier reports.

While Brock Built Homes in particular is offering a $10,000 price cut for ready-built homes in its Stonoview master-planned community, the biggest draw of these inventory homes is the speed of their purchasing process. A quick-acting buyer could potentially close on and move into a property before the end of 2016. This works out well for buyers moving to the area on short notice, or who simply want to be in a home before the holidays.

Too, a 2016 closing has a tax benefit related to the mortgage deduction. “If you close in the year, you can claim it that year,” Minter of Brock Built Homes says.
