The first phase, consisting of 337 homes in five neighborhoods, of Newland Communities’ massive 3,642-acre Elyson community in Houston, will be ready this fall, reports Houston Chronicle staffer Katherine Feser, as eight builders are starting work on model homes.

Builders working on the development’s first phase include Chesmar Homes, Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, Perry Homes, Pulte, Trendmaker Homes, and Westin Homes.

Builders have not yet announced their pricing, but homes in the community are expected to sell in the high $200,000 to more than $600,000, according to Newland Communities.

The five neighborhoods will offer homes on five different lot widths: 50-foot, 55-foot, 60-foot, 65-foot and 70-foot.

In June, the builders will start construction of 10 homes in a model home village next to the new recreational amenity and new-home information center. Landscaping and architecture for amenity buildings are inspired by the Katy Prairie.
