This looks to be a busy year for Broward County commissioners, as they consider development proposals including an amendment to the land use plan for a large swath of Miramar to boost residential development at the expense of industrial. This swath currently includes the Mirimar Town Center and Mirimar Park of Commerce
South Florida Business Journal Senior Reporter Brian Bandell takes a look at this amendment which would allow an additional 1,250 residential units to be developed by Sunbeam Properties:
Sunbeam Properties, which developed the 5-million-square-foot Miramar Park of Commerce, is the applicant. The amendment would allow it to sell some of its industrial-zoned land to residential developers, since land is more valuable for residential now.
