Walmart plans to close stores and shrink it's store count.

All right, so 154 stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico is a rounding error vs. the 4,200 stores that the world's No. 1 retailer is going to continue to operate. Still, it's almost unimaginable that WalMart is not still expanding, let alone shrinking its footprint.

MarketWatch staffer Jessica Marmor Shaw, reports on the pull-back:

All 102 of its smallest stores, Walmart Express, will be closed. Four Sam’s Clubs will be closed -- one in Waterford, Mich., outside of Detroit, and three within 30 miles of each other in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
