Forbes' Monte Burke takes a look at the top 100 largest private landowners in the nation, via a new study byThe Land Report.

The list includes some very familiar names. For instance, Ted Turner was the second largest landowner on the list, with 2.2 million acres of land:

On his properties, he owns the world’s largest private bison herd, and The Land Report says he recently began an ecotourism venture on his properties. 

The Emmerson Family, which runs Sierra Pacific Industries, the second-largest timber company in the world, came in second. Other familiar names include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, at No. 36, with 290,000 acres in Texas alone.
