Following the recent flood in Houston, Airbnb activated its Disaster Response tool that allows hosts to list their homes for free to aid displaced flood victims. Houston Chronicle staffer Erin Mulvaney reports on this display of generosity from Airbnb hosts and the 12 listings that are currently listed for free in Houston for the flood victims.
This is not the first time that Airbnb has activated its Disaster Response tool. The tool is currently being used in Ecuador to help those displaced by the earthqauke, was used in Austin last year, and was also used in the northeast in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Airbnb continues to show support for those affected by natural disasters:
"We are heartbroken at the events unfolding in Houston and our thoughts are with the community, the victims and their families," said Airbnb spokesman Nick Shapiro.
