Energy storage could be a key trend for the future and AES Energy Storage isn't wasting any time to get ahead of that trend.
LG is selling one gigawatt-hour worth of lithium ion batteries to AES, one of America's largest grid battery company. The company says it plans to buy 'enough batteries to temporarily power a small town.'
Over several years, AES will take its new lithium-ion batteries from LG, and package them into large battery banks, and deploy energy when a utility or a company needs it. With the help of software and data crunching, the batteries can provide bursts of energy of between 30 minutes to four hours depending on how they’re used.
