Forbes home tech writer Anthony Karcz reports on the coming of age of Vivint, which started as Apex Home Security back in 1999, and rebranded to its current moniker in 2011.
Karcz notes that it's the "internally sourced" products that set Vivint apart from other Internet of Things smart hub providers. Karcz writes:
They don’t want to simply tack on Internet of Things devices to a base monitoring system. When they feel they can do as good of or better a job than a third party provider, Vivint builds their components in-house. Doing so gives them a greater ability to support and educate their customers. Vivint wants consumers to have more than a security system, they want them to have an “instant smart home.”
