ARCHITECT's Chelsea Blahut shares this year's shortlist of 16 submissions for the Matsumoto Prize Awards, which recognize modernist residential projects across the Southern states.

This year's projects are all located in North Carolina, where the annual program's organizing host, North Carolina Modernist Houses, is based.

“These entries inspire people dreaming of a Modernist house to know Modernist design is affordable, efficient, sustainable, and most importantly, a house their families will love for decades,” NCMH founder George Smart said in a press release. “We’re looking forward to record-breaking participation in this year’s online voting.”
