The year 2016 is poised to be a good time and construction professionals are optimistic about it. Dodge Data & Analytics Construction Outlook forecasts a 6% growth, with the value of construction starts reaching an estimated $712 billion. Construction Dive staffer Emily Peiffer asked experts from various sectors of the construction industry about areas that bear watching for 2016, and here's the take-away. 

The expert comments gravitate around a couple of common themes, ranging from new technology to workforce concerns. To a person, however, respondents look ahead with optimism for progress and innovation in the industry. 

The 10 trends to watch for 2016 include: skilled labor shortage, prefab construction methods, construction project selection, Building Information modeling (BIM), green building, jobsite accidents and criminal indictments, flourishing single-family sector, laser scanning technology, luxury market remodeling, and walkable communities.
