MarketWatch correspondent Daniel Goldstein taps into Trulia data and analysis for a briefing on the lumpy, spotty, and iffy recovery path the United States economy has taken as it lifted off the bottom after the Great Recession.

The rebound's trajectory and collateral benefits weigh are more robust on the West Coast in general, for both jobs and housing metrics, Trulia notes. Goldstein writes:

Most Westernmost U.S. cities have seen roaring job growth and real estate price gains, while most Northeast cities have seen only sluggish economic growth and lagging prices.
