As tensions about the federal debt have heightened and talk of belt-tightening has grown louder, buzz has been growing on Capital Hill about the mortgage interest deduction. While some argue it gives an unfair advantage to the wealthy, others call it critical. While there has been some talk of total elimination of the deduction, that seems unlikely.
