M/I Homes is the latest builder to expand in the Texas market, announcing plans to build in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and the appointment of Louie Ocana as president of the DFW division.

“The Dallas/Fort Worth area is one of the nation’s most dynamic housing markets, with strong job growth and a healthy business environment,” CEO Robert H. Schottenstein said in a news release. “We are confident that we can build upon the successful operations we have established in our other Texas markets. This expansion in Texas further strengthens our geographic footprint and enhances our opportunity for growth."

The M/I announcement comes on the heels of Shea Homes announcement it is moving into the Houston market.

The Columbus, Ohio-based M/I Homes has moved into Texas during the past few years, expanding into Houston in 2010 and San Antonio in 2011, and recently opening its first community in Austin.

Ocana, the new M/I Dallas/Fort Worth area president, has been a division president in Dallas for Meritage Homes, Beazer Homes, and Centex Homes, according to his LinkedIn  page.
