While most prospective home buyers are trying to stay inside during the cold or watch their budget after the holidays, those who get a jump start on the spring selling season are better off.
An analysis by Attom Data Solutions of roughly 50 million home sales between 2000 and 2016 proved February was the most affordable month to buy. The median selling price at this time of year was 6% less than over the rest of the year.
The next most affordable months were January, March and April, with discounts of just under 6 percent, 4 percent and 2 percent over the annualized median price of $110 per square foot. Data shows that buyers pay a premium when shopping during the summer months of June, July and August.
