A recent survey by Experian revealed that nearly a third of future home owners believe that their credit score possibly hurts their chance of owning a home. HousingWire staffer Kelsey Ramirez reports on the results of this survey and the effect that credit scores are having on people's decision to buy a home.

The survey revealed that 45% were delaying purchasing a home to improve their credit score. With their credit profile being a key indicator to lenders of their financial health, many are taking the necessary steps to repair their scores:

Nearly 70% of the respondents stated they are paying their bills on time and 60% are paying off debt. Another 28% if future home buyers are also keeping balances low on credit cards and 15% are protecting their credit information from identity theft and fraud.
