Long Island’s Montauk urbanized area is the least affordable in the entire state, according to Business First.

Business First’s ranking of New York’s 123 urbanized areas, calculated by a ratio of median home value to median household income, includes five Western New York areas in its top six. Attica, NY takes first place, with a median home value of $1,604 to every $1,000 of median household income. Walworth (east of Rochester, NY), Perry, Silver Creek, Newfane, and LeRoy aren’t far behind.

The median home value in the Attica area was $92,600 as of 2014, and the median household income was $57,727. At the very bottom of the affordability list was Montauk on Long Island, with a median home value of $739,800 and a median income of $69,483. This equates to a median home value of $10,647 per $1,000 of median household income.
