During the first 10 months of 2016, 24 out of 100 Los Angeles County households and 25 out of 100 Orange County household were buying outside of their counties. While residents in both counties were attracted to more affordable areas, one-tenth of Los Angeles County's net outflow were buying in Orange County where the median sales price is 17% higher:
The move to Orange County from Los Angeles County could be for various amenities such as better schools, less crime, newer neighborhoods and lower density. According to a recent U.S. Census Bureau report, the two largest county migration flows were Los Angeles County to Orange County and Los Angeles County to San Bernardino County
