There are now plans in place for two more town home development’s in Charlotte’s Davis Lake area, reports Charlotte Business Journal staffer Ashley Fahey.
Demeter Properties LLC, a subsidiary of Cornelius-based Waterfront Group, has filed a rezoning petition with the city to develop up to 125, two-story town houses on David Cox Road. Additionally, national home builder D.R. Horton Inc. has plans for nearly 100 town homes down the road.
The Demeter Properties project under review is a 15.4-acre site that will contain about 30 buildings with roughly four units apiece, according to a site plan filed with the city. City Council will vote on the development in the coming months.
According to a filing with the city, D.R. Horton is adding 98 townhouses on a 12.4 acre-site.
A spokeswoman for D.R. Horton said Tuesday that the site’s proximity to Northlake Mall and interstates 77, 85 and 485 made it a “highly-desirable” location for residential development, but declined specifics on the project. The targeted opening for the D.R. Horton town homes is early 2017.
Several town house developments have been proposed throughout the Queen City in recent weeks. Charlotte-based The Drakeford Co. is expected to build dozens of town homes in Plaza Midwood and NoDa, some in partnership with national home builder Ryan Homes, and home builder Saussy Burbank is adding 30 town houses near Heist Brewing in NoDa.
