Despite oil industry woes, the luxury market is alive and well in Montgomery County, Texas.

At Pine Island, a walkable neighborhood in Woodforest situated along Woodforest Golf Club, Sterling Classic Homes has begun work on a five-bedroom manse offers 6,352-square-feet of living space and an additional 1,307 square feet of bonus space. It is expected to take a year to build and is priced at $2.149 million.

Sterling Classic Homes has selected a 6,352-square-foot design that features ample first-floor entertainment space for its first home in Woodforest. The expansive great room is a focal point of the home, open to the island kitchen, formal dining room, and breakfast area. A wine grotto and wet bar serve the common area, which overlooks one of three covered verandas. Nearby is a recreation room that could be outfitted as a downstairs media room. LaCantina folding doors open the space to an extended veranda complete with an outdoor fireplace and summer kitchen, creating a seamless indoor/outdoor living area.

The master suite includes a sitting area overlooking the backyard, separate closets and two water closets. A guest suite also is downstairs, as is a study with French doors, a home office near the kitchen and an oversized utility room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, each with a private bath and walk-in closet, and a television loft area. A covered balcony offers views of Woodforest Golf Club, which fronts the homesite. Two bonus rooms add another 1,307 square feet of customizable living space. The home also is designed for a future elevator.

“This is very reminiscent of the outstanding home designs that attract people to areas such as Carlton Woods, where we have built 18 homes,” said Sterling Classic Homes' Tom Neyland, Jr. in a press release. “This home will be filled with complex architectural detailing, custom cabinetry and luxury finishes befitting its design.”

Neyland said he was attracted to Woodforest because of the golf course and features of the community’s custom homesites.

“We like to build in large master-planned communities and are certainly familiar with Johnson Development,” he said. “Custom properties in Woodforest are large, are along the golf course and wooded. Woodforest is the best neighborhood in the north Houston area right now.”

The gated Estate District offers 20 home sites of up to a full acre along Woodforest Golf Club.
