Foreclosures and real estate owned (REO) closings declined in March from a year earlier, but stayed a drag on the market. Combined, foreclosures plus REO closings made up 26.3% of existing home closings, below 47.9% a year earlier. The percentage of existing home closings involving foreclosures declined to 13.5% in March from 27.8% a year earlier while REO closings as a percentage of existing home closings slid to 12.8% from 20.1% a year earlier.
