RealtyTrac recently released a study that shows the top-10 bargain burgs based on the median price of homes in beach towns with fewer than 50,000 residents with a high quality of life. The prices of these homes were then compared to those of other beach towns.
MarketWatch staffer Catey Hill takes at the top 10 towns on this list which are typically smaller towns next to a name-brand beach town. She also points out that these town are bargains but that does not make them cheap. One of the towns that made the list was Emerald Isle, North Carolina:
Roughly two hours by car from Wilmington, this quiet beach town has 12 miles of coastline and plenty of options for fishing and water sports. The median home price is just over $320,000.
