The Census Bureau recently released their list of the most rapidly growing cities from 2014 to 2015 and five of the 11 fastest-growing cities with populations of at least 50,000 are in Texas. MarketWatch staffer Catey Hill takes a look at what is driving population growth in these cities.
Coming in at number one on the list is Georgetown, Texas, but what is driving people to move to hot and traffic-heavy -- in certain areas -- Texas?
Among the reasons that Texas is such a popular place to move is that it has myriad affordable housing and living options and good jobs, says Joel Kotkin, author of “The Human City: Urbanism for the Rest of Us” and the executive director of the Houston-based think tank Center for Opportunity Urbanism. “Middle-wage employees can live a middle-class life here,” he says.
