Construction will begin soon on model homes for a 2,000-acre master-planned community near Dallas. Three builders--David Weekley Homes, Gehan Homes and Horizon Homes--will kick off Phase One of the residential portion of Gateway in Forney, Texas. With models opening early next year, the three builders will offer one- and two-story homes from 1,800 to 3,500 square feet with a variety of floor plans.

The first phase, Gateway Parks, will encompass 439 homes starting from the mid-$200s on 50-foot and 60-foot lots. It will eventually be home to 1,840 single-family residences.

“We’ve brought in a slate of quality builders at an affordable price point that buyers want,” says Alan Bain, vice president of real estate development for Gateway Holdings, the project's developer. “Since the number of new, affordable homes available in Dallas/Fort Worth is at an all-time low, this inventory should help ease that buyer demand.”

Dubbed the “gateway to Dallas,” the fast-growing suburban city is located just 20 minutes east of Dallas. Gateway Parks residents will enjoy a 9,000-square-foot amenity center consisting of a clubhouse, a three-pool complex, and an event lawn with an outdoor entertainment stage. Gateway Parks will be in the Forney ISD school system and other amenities include jogging trails, playground areas and several planned parks that will have room for soccer and baseball fields.

Gateway has set aside land for an elementary school site within the community to accommodate future growth and provide residents with an outstanding Forney ISD school within walking distance. Additional plans for the community consists of a 40-acre retail center and over 1,300 acres for commercial/office, medical, retail, hotel and some additional residential.
