Carlsbad, Calif.-based Barratt American has appointed G. Jack Becker, the former vice president of operations, as the new president of the San Diego division of the Southern California home building firm. The division will be active in suburban community development and home building throughout San Diego, Orange, and South Riverside counties.
K. Hovnanian has brought Ron Teaney onto its team. Teaney will serve as area president for Hovnanian's Tucson market. His first project will be Somerset Canyon, Hovnanian's first Tucson community. Teaney brings more than 25 years of experience to the job.
Linda Mamet has been named vice president of sales and marketing for John Laing Homes' South Coast division, which builds homes in Orange County. In her new position, Mamet will drive sales and marketing strategies for the division's master planned communities and infill development projects.
SummerHill Homes has tapped Mark Retherford as the new vice president of architecture and planning. Retherford will oversee site planning and architecture for the Palo Alto, Calif.-based home builder's new communities. Retherford holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Idaho and has been a senior architect with Dahlin Group Architecture and Planning since 1984.
Robert McLeod, chairman of the board and CEO of Newland Communities, has been named to the board of governors of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Foundation. ULI provides an assured source of funding for the institute's core research, education, and public service activities. McLeod has been chairman and CEO of Newland since its founding in 1987.
