Beazer Homes USA has appointed Wachovia Securities veteran Jeffrey S. Hoza vice president and treasurer, replacing Cory Boydston, who resigned last March.

"His depth of experience in homebuilding and finance, gained in a wide variety of economic climates, will be extremely valuable as we manage through the current challenges in the housing market and will help us to better position the company for the opportunities that we expect will arise when our markets begin to recover," Allan P. Merrill, Beazer's executive vice president and chief financial officer said in the announcement.

In addition to the traditional treasury duties, including managing the company's cash and its relationships with lenders, Hoza is also charged with playing a key role in the company's acquisition and disposition of land assets, including identifying and structuring distressed asset buys from financial institutions and other home builders, the announcement said.

Before being hired by Beazer, Hoza was director of Wachovia Securities' real estate division. His primary responsibilities included managing client relationships and delivering financial products and services to both publicly traded and private home building companies, including Beazer.

Before joining Wachovia in 1995, Hoza was with GE Capital, where he developed lending relationships with larger home builders and developers and was involved in buying real estate assets from the Resolution Trust Corp.

Hoza has an undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and a masters in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
