One of the latest innovations in the Internet of Things is Rachio, a sprinkler control system that waters lawns while being mindful of outdoor water usage, says TechCrunch writer Lucas Matney. The company has now released its Generation 2 controller with many updated features. The controller allows users to adapt the system to the needs of their individual lawns in relation to local climates, has settings for up to 16 watering zones, LED status alerts, and additional sensor options. According to Rachio, the system can save users up to 50% on their outdoor watering bills.
Rachio is also compatible with many other smart home automation systems such including Nest, Xfinity, Alarm.com, Control4, Creston, IFTTT, Nexia, Wink and Amazon Echo. The device retails for $249 and is available on the Rachio website, Amazon, at Home Depot, and soon Apple’s online store.
