SAGE SOFTWARE IS SHIPPING MASTER Builder Version 12, a new release of the popular software that offers builders an easy-to-view snapshot of their business. Jim Kinnier, product line general manager for Master Builder, says that now when builders click on the Master Builder icon on their desktops, the lead page shows updated business information. The specific parameters can be pre-set by the builder.

“The information displayed can be cash balances, job status, change orders, or sales and profit data—whatever is important to the builder,” says Kinnier.

Version 12 is the first release of Master Builder since Sage acquired the software from Intuit earlier this year. By adding Master Builder to its stable of products, Sage now has an offering for most every level of builder: Peachtree is its entry-level accounting package, followed by Master Builder, for builders who have fewer than 10 employees. Timberline Office is for companies with 10 employees or more.

Kinnier says Master Builder users liked all the functionality Master Builder offered but kept saying the product needed an executive dashboard that would display all the business information in an easy-to-read format.

“Builders didn't want to have to print a lot of reports,” says Kinnier, who says the dashboard offers a convenient way to view basic business information right on screen.

Master Builder Version 12 sells for $3,000 per user. An estimating package is available for a one-time fee of $1,500.
