Salt Lake City–based AxisPointe ( says its new Home-Profile Web-based productivity tool will help builders save money by efficiently collecting, managing, and accessing warranty and product data for every home they sell.

“The tool will result in a real cost saving to the builder,” says Lyle Ball, vice president of marketing, “because it organizes information and allows homeowners to be independent, which will result in fewer callbacks to the builder. This will also result in a more pleasant relationship between both.”

HomeProfile tracks home-specific information related to warranties, building materials, appliances, and all of the other products that go into a home. Once builders enter into an agreement with the company, home buyers will use the builder's Web site to access the information. At closing, the builder will also give the buyer a binder and a CD with all of the same information. The Web version will be more accurate since it will have changes and updates.

The tool is an application service provider so it can be accessed from a PDA, Palm Pilot, or other similar devices. It is designed for the builder who does about 75 to 100 houses a year, but it will accommodate large as well as small builders, Ball says. And because it is a pay-as-you-go technology, home builders will not be required to purchase and maintain software, digital storage, or pay for minor enhancements and upgrades.
