Hovnanian Enterprises, based in Red Bank, N.J., recently upgraded its Web site (, adding a mapping tool and enhanced search functions that let home buyers look for a new home based on specific criteria, such as number of bedrooms, price range, or community amenities. "Roughly half of all customers who come into our sales offices have already browsed the Web site, and 25 percent of our sales begin online," says Ara Hovnanian, the company's president and CEO. "The new site encompasses our entire family of home builders with a unified appearance."
