While the rest of the free world watches Washington and the inauguration of Barack Obama next week, builders will be looking to Las Vegas, home of the 2009 International Builders' Show, aka “IBS.”

Of course, the show won’t be the usual madhouse—registration is significantly down, according to various reports. But BUILDER Online will be there, posting daily from the press room to keep you informed about the latest products, news, and business strategies even if the travel budget doesn’t permit you attending in person this year. Bookmark this page to see all our IBS news gathered in one online place before, during, and after the show.

As many of you know, we have also joined Twitter this year (@builderonline is our handle), and we will be Tweeting from IBS as well. Even better, we’ve created a widget that provides a newsfeed of all Tweets tagged with “#ibs09,” allowing you to experience the show in real-time through the eyes of builders, product manufacturers, and the other Twitter users at the show. To follow this feed, bookmark this page and hit “refresh” on your browser periodically to see the latest tweets. Curious about the content or source of a particular Tweet? Click on the comment, hit the “copy” button, and paste into a new browser tab or window.  You’ll end up visiting a page for the individual Tweet, from which you can then visit the original poster and any other linked items.

If all this Twitter talk is giving you a tweaking headache, there’s a solution: a social media seminar at IBS. Dina Gundersen of Monte Hewett Homes (@montehewett on Twitter), Carol Flammer of Flammer Public Relations (@AtlantaPR), and Kathie McDaniel of Highland Homes will be presenting “Sell More Homes by Becoming a Social (Media) Butterfly.” Sounds good to us. --Alison Rice
