AS PRESIDENT OF THE NAHB, I AM ALWAYS pleased to let members know about the products and professional services that we provide. Our mission is to serve the home building industry, and the career center and conferences mentioned below are proof positive that we are fulfilling that mission.
CAREER MOVES One of our newest services is an online building-industry–oriented career center that provides members with a cost-effective recruiting solution to make locating qualified candidates—a critically important task in our highly competitive job market—faster and easier than ever before. The career center was created in collaboration with ConstructionJobs.com, a leading employment resource for the construction, design, and building industries, and NAHB members will receive a 20 percent discount off of standard rates when they post jobs on the site; job searches are free.

THE FALL LINEUP As summer winds down, it's time to start planning for fall professional activities. Throughout the year, the NAHB stages a number of professional and industry-related conferences to keep members informed and help them maintain their competitive edge.
The semiannual Construction Forecast Conference, held at the NAHB's National Housing Center in Washington, opens the fall season on Oct. 25. The conference provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about economic trends, government policies, and housing industry developments. Experts will discuss the outlook for the economy and housing, the regional housing outlook, and recent NAHB surveys. Go to www.nahb.org/cfc for more information.
The Custom Builder Symposium will be held Oct. 27–29 in Las Vegas. This symposium is the industry's premier event for custom builders, with excellent educational programs and networking events designed by custom builders. This year, the NAHB is offering the first Custom Builder of the Year Award, given to the builder who creates exceptional homes and is a leader in the industry and the community. Find out more about it at www.nahb.org/custom.
The only nationwide show dedicated to building systems, the Building Systems Councils Showcase will be held Nov. 5–8 in Miami. It will feature educational sessions, trade show exhibits, award ceremonies, and networking opportunities tailored to manufacturers, builders, dealers, suppliers, and associates in the concrete, log, modular, and panelized home building industries. Go to www.nahb.org/showcase to learn more.
Education is at the core of the NAHB's mission, and we're very proud to provide these outstanding events and services for our members. We are always striving to improve the lineup and the content, and I can honestly say that no other group or organization provides events that meet our members' needs so well.
