A new residential community north of Boston offers pocket neighborhood living with cottage-size homes, modern design, and a convenient location.
Opened since this fall, there is only one home remaining at the 30-unit Cottages at River Hill in West Newbury, Mass. Reflecting consumers' desire for a neighborhood feel, the houses are located close together on the 24-acre site around a central pocket park.
The cottages feature large front porches that invite frequent neighbor interaction and yards framed with white picket fences. Maintenance-free offerings include common services such as landscaping and snow removal.
"Residents enjoy the privacy of a single-family home with deluxe amenities, but the low-maintenance of a detached condo," says Chip Hall, senior vice president of Cottage Advisors.
The property, developed by Maine-based Cottage Advisors, caters to a new demographic of buyers who are enticed by the project's focus on community and downsized floor plans: single-professionals, empty-nesters, and single parents. Interest is extremely high at the development that opened this fall--only one home is remaining, says Hall.
The development includes six home styles, offering 1,200 to 2,300 square feet of living space in two and three-bedroom layouts. Each layout features two-and-a-half baths and deluxe amenities including state-of-the-art kitchens, spa baths, and private rear patios or decks. The project is also close to walking trails, historic Newburyport, and a short walk to local shops in the West Newbury village.
The final home (shown in the slide show at left) is offered at $594,000 and has three bedrooms and includes upgrades such as a chef’s kitchen, first-floor master suite, 9-foot-tall ceilings, and a gas fireplace.
