Use of Color

This kitchen looks like a typical well-designed space with granite countertops and high-end appliances. A wall of red cabinets, however, adds a personalized touch. “[The client's] favorite colors are red and khaki,” says kitchen designer Mary M. Dodge, adding that the client was specific that the cabinets be Porsche red and look like furniture. Painted with acrylic polyester, the cabinetry is the focal point of the kitchen, but red accent tiles and the red knobs of the Wolf range carry through the design element. Getting the color right was an arduous task, but Dodge says the project was loads of fun.
