Stress is an important factor when employees consider retirement.

Marketwatch staffer Catey Hill explores the findings of a new research analysis on 4,500 people's views of retirement from the TransAmerica Center for Retirement Studies. Hill notes that the median age of retirement in this country is 62, and fully 60% of people who are now retired say they retired sooner than they planned, according to the TransAmerica Center for Retirement Studies. Hill adds:

While reasons like health issues or the desire for more freedom tend to come to mind when we think about retiring early, the nature of our jobs is one of the biggest reasons we either retire early or keep working, a study of roughly 37,000 individuals released in April by the Michigan Retirement Research Center reveals.
