Builders Gone Bust

As an unfortunate consequence of the home building recession, dozens of high-profile companies have closed their doors, liquidated, or filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Here’s a list of builders, who at one time built more than 100 homes, that have taken one of those actions. Builder 100 companies are highlighted in bold. Hundreds more smaller builders, of course, have quietly closed up shop or decided to build something other than homes. They aren’t on this list. Industry sources expect half the home building companies that did business at the peak of the market in 2005 to be around once the market bottoms.
