Over the past couple of weeks, Westlake Village, Calif.,-based Ryland Homes announced multiple projects in both Tampa, Fla. and Las Vegas.

In December, the builder will open three new communities in the Tampa, Fla. market. FishHawk Ranch, which features villas and is located south of Brandon, will have 48 homesites in the first phase, and another 48 later. Keystone Ridge Estates, with one- and two-story homes located near shopping and beaches in Tarpon Springs, will have 35 sites. And the gated Avery Park, which offers two- and three-bedroom townhomes in Brandon, has 42 sites.

Ryland has been very active in Tampa this year. During 2014, The company opened nine communities in the greater Tampa Bay area, including Admiral Pointe, Chandler Woods, Keyway Place, Maple Glen at Seven Oaks, Palmer Reserve, Tarpon Key, Union Park, Vista Lakes and Whisper Pointe at WaterGrass.

In Sin City, Ryland Arista (51 lots) in Henderson and Bristle Falls (60 lots) in Las Vegas offer flexible floorplans and rooftop decks, and opened in late October. Earlier in the month, Ryland premiered Capistrano in Las Vegas (112 lots) and Loretto Bay in Henderson (69 lots).

It’s not surprising that growth in Vegas is a priority for Ryland. In its second-quarter earnings calls, Larry Nicholson, president and CEO of Ryland, pointed to the ability to raise prices in the market (among others).

“Our divisions in Charleston, Orlando, and Las Vegas made particularly strong contributions to our overall margin profile, posting gross margins well in excess with the company average,” he said.
