Charlotte-based Crescent Communities may be known foremost as a residential and commercial developer, but it is now moving into the world of home building. Charlotte Business Journal senior staff writer Ken Elkins reports on its new home building division, Fielding Homes, that will first build homes in the Charlotte region.
Crescent Communities CEO Todd Mansfield believes that the company's decision to move from development to building is a natural progression that will allow it to be apart of the development process from start to finish. Fielding Homes Executive Vice President Scott Widener believes that this new division has ideas for how to improve the process for building homes:
“What is most significant is that we all share Crescent Communities’ vision to change the landscape for production home building through enhanced design, more flexible customization and a customer-focused buying experience,” he says.
