BUILDER's premier lists of the top 200 builders in the country, the BUILDER 100 and the Next 100, will be released next week. In light of that, we are counting down each day with some facts and figures gleaned from the data.

This year, a Colorado builder tops the list of the fastest-growing public firms in the Builder 100. Century Communities, a fairly young company founded in 2002, experienced 78.30% growth from 2015 to 2017, growing from 2,401 to 4,281 closings in two years. The Greenwood Village-based builder focuses primarily on move-up and entry-level buyers, and reported that each of those segments accounted for 50% of its unit closings in 2017.

Two other public builders more than doubled new home deliveries over the past two years. Texas-based LGI Homes, which classified 97% of its closings in 2017 as entry-level product, saw a 71.71% increase in closings. Conversely, Texas-based firm Green Brick Partners, which classified 90% of its closings in 2017 as move-up product, saw an increase of 51.14% from 2015 to 2017. (The firm announced earlier this week that it has acquired Florida builder GHO Homes.)
