Del Webb public relations staff eliminated.

By BUILDER Magazine Staff

As consolidation continues in the housing industry, the merger last year of Pulte and Del Webb has resulted in the elimination of Del Webb's public relations functions at the corporate level. As of Jan. 1, all public relations matters are being handled by Pulte public relations in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Lynne Reaves, Del Webb's PR director, left the company effective Dec. 31. Valerie DoLenga, Pulte's corporate PR person, will handle all inquiries about both companies. There often are staff redundancies in corporate mergers of this size. Pulte ranked as the nation's largest home builder and Del Webb was ranked eighth largest in the 2001 Builder 100 list (May 2001, page 156).

Some of the community Del Webb PR staff will remain in place. Since Del Webb has the only national brand for retirement housing in the industry, its name is better known nationwide than is Pulte's brand of retirement homes.
