AS THERE ARE ONLY A HANDFUL OF TECHNOLOGY consultants in the industry, BuildLinks, maker of the Web-based BuildLinks project management software, has created a Professional Services Group to help builders more effectively deploy BuildLinks and manage their operations. Here are five services the group provides:
Selections development. BuildLinks has an option-selection function that requires setup and maintenance. The services group will manage the selection template for each floor plan a builder offers.
Custom reporting. Builders can opt to have BuildLinks experts create reports, which can be saved into PDF, XML, CSV, and HTML formats.
Home-buyer training. An important feature of BuildLinks is that home buyers can log on and view the construction schedule, make selections, and pick up notifications for when certain decisions have to be made. The services group will develop a customized training video for the home buyer on how to use the BuildLinks system.
Support desk. BuildLinks has established a home buyer help line for builders' customers to call.
Builder training. The services group members will be available to fit a builder's busy production schedule. They will run training sessions at a job-site, on nights and weekends at the builder's facility, or at BuildLinks' Morrisville, N.C., headquarters.
For a builder that does 100 homes a year, the New Neighborhood Package, which includes setting up templates and projects for a neighborhood with 10 floor plans, costs $1,299. A custom reports package of five reports is $795.
