The 204-unit Eden condominium community is in the heart of Boca Raton, Fla., steps from Mizner Park and near the vibrant area's most popular restaurants, shops, and beaches. "We launched a two-month long, nationwide campaign in search of a spokesmodel who embodies the sultry yet sophisticated aura of a modern-day Eve, while exuding an elegance, grace, and style consistent with the mood of this project," states Adam Schlesinger, vice president of Ceebraid-Signal Corp., Eden's developer. "We were extremely committed to finding an 'Eve' that reflects the mystical, magical nature of Eden."
The Eve search campaign included posters on Boca Raton buses and area billboards sporting the phrase, "Do you have the look of an original sinner?" All women between the ages of 18 and 35 on April 1, 2003 were eligible.
Apparently 200 women thought they had what it takes and sent in applications for the contest.
On June 14, in an event that was broadcast live on local radio, about 130 potential Eves showed up at the sales center to compete before an audience of approximately 150 to 200 people. By the end of the afternoon there were 15 finalists. "There was a lot of talent out there," says Hillary Reynolds, public relations spokesperson for Eden.
Reynolds says the event "was high energy and fun." Some contestants sported flowers or had fake snakes wrapped around their necks.
The winner received $10,000 in cash, a two-year lease on a BMW, a $2,500 Bloomingdale's shopping spree, and a full scholarship to John Casablancas Modeling & Career Center. Upon her graduation, "Eve" will receive a modeling contract with MTM, Model Talent Management.
The big draw at the June 19 Garden of Eden-themed grand-opening bash for the Eden community was Eve's crowning.
Besides attracting attention to Eden's condos, clubhouse, and meeting facilities, the event also benefited the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Contributions from the Eve applicants and a percentage of Eden's sales were donated to the group.
