Builders looking to increase traffic during the downturn can expect a sales lead lift now that home buyers can access data on the Yahoo! Real Estate portal.

Builder Homesite manages the Web site for 38 big builder consortium members and more than 400 other builders. The Yahoo site went live with the NewHomeSource data about two weeks ago.

"Online is the first place home buyers go to shop for a new home, and we want to be everywhere," says Blair Kuhnen, Builder Homesite's vice president of marketing.

According to comScore Media Metrix, Yahoo has one of the more significant real estate portals on the Web with 4 million unique visitors monthly.

Kuhnen says the NewHomeSource data gets updated on Yahoo's servers nightly. Home shoppers can access the latest new-homes information by clicking "New Homes" on the Yahoo Real Estate site and filling out zip code and pricing information.

"By combining the extensive new-home community data found within with Yahoo Real Estate's user interface and reach, we are providing home buyers with an easy and effective method to find new homes," says Tim Costello, CEO of Builder Homesite.
