Mattamy Homes, Ontario, Canada, has named Alex Martin President of the company's Orlando Division. Martin Alex will oversee all aspects of Mattamy's business in the Orlando market, including land acquisition and development, marketing, sales and construction.

Martin is a veteran of two premiere companies in home building, Ryan Homes, its parent NVR and Toll Brothers. Most recently he was vp and division manager with Ryan Homes in Washington DC, where he managed the execution and business plan of 16 active residential and condominium projects. He was also the general manager responsible for all aspects of NVR's flagship Potomac Shores community – an award-winning master-planned community. Previously, he was with Toll Brothers in both Minnesota and Washington DC, as a division assistant vp and senior project manager. Prior to his home building career, Martin was an officer in the U.S. Navy. He holds a B.A. in history from the Virginia Military Institute. He also served as planning commissioner for the City of Eden Prairie, MN.

"Along with extensive business and people management skills, Alex's background will serve Mattamy well as we continue with a significant and exciting growth plan in Orlando," said Jim Leiferman, President of Mattamy's US Group, in a statement. "We're very excited to have an individual with Alex's experience and knowledge joining us, and look forward to him taking the reins for Mattamy Homes in Orlando."

In the U.S., the company is represented in nine metropolitan areas – Minneapolis-St. Paul, Charlotte, Phoenix, Tucson, Jacksonville, Tampa, Sarasota, Naples and Orlando (where its U.S. headquarters is located).
