Newland Communities has appointed Robert Bernstein vice president and chief information officer. Bernstein, who most recently led Deloitte's real estate consulting practice for the western U.S., specializing in strategic systems planning and implementation, is responsible for aligning the information services department with the needs of the business. He will create and implement a strategic information systems plan for the company in addition to managing the information systems department.
Laing Luxury Homes, a division of Newport Beach, Calif.-based John Laing Homes, has picked Stephen Nicholson to be project manager for the company's new neighborhood at Playa Vista, which will consist of 62 three-story units. Nicholson will oversee the development phase of the neighborhood, serving as a liaison between the design and construction teams, managing government permitting and approvals, and working with Playa Vista and the city of Los Angeles.
Standard Pacific Corp. has promoted three corporate managers. John P. Babel has been promoted to vice president and associate general counsel. Babel previously played a key role in corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Heather Breidenthal has been promoted to vice president of human resources. Chairman and CEO Stephen J. Scarborough called Breidenthal “instrumental in our company's growth both organically and through acquisitions.” The company also promoted Gina Delao, who assists the company's general counsel, to corporate assistant secretary.
Beazer Homes has made Tom Daddario vice president of its Northeast Florida division. Daddario, who joined Beazer in 2003 as sales and marketing manager, will continue to oversee sales and marketing for communities in Duval, Clay, and St. Johns counties.
Chicago builder Concord Homes hired Colleen Walsh as a Spanish-speaking new home specialist. In the newly created role, Walsh will assist Spanish-speaking home buyers via a native language “Chat Live” feature on Concord's Web site, and on the phone. Concord promoted Juli Pearson to design studio manager, and Anita Hasselberger and Eric Dick to general sales manager.
Choice Homes has tapped Jonathan Bailey as marketing manager in the company's Georgia region. Bailey is responsible for the marketing efforts for more than 16 communities, including all billboard, newspaper, and magazine advertising.
