Los Angeles Times staffer Andrew Khouri reports on the end of a tough chapter for KB Home's Florida operations, the settlement, after a three-year probe, of allegations it had violated Florida building codes and fair trade practice rules.

The settlement language--which includes plans for KB to spend $17 million on training and improvement of practices on stucco installation, and $6.5 million in restitution for costs of the Florida attorney general's investigation--includes agreement that KB was not in violation of Florida law and admitted no wrongdoing. Khouri writes:

In a statement, KB said that it had cooperated with the attorney general's office "to address issues with residential stucco performance, which we consider to be an industry-wide challenge in Florida."
