Based on the Greek word for archway, Atreus said in a statement that it will stick to its roots in will be dedicated to building on its roots in the Southeast as well as “bringing affordable homes to new families in new markets coast to coast.

“We started this company with just $40,000 and seven houses,” noted Jon Been, founder and CEO. “Since then, we’ve built new homes for more than 10,000 families and expanded into five different cities. We needed a new, unique name that could grow with us.”

The company now has 80 active communities spread among five markets, including Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte, Phoenix and Albuquerque.
